Why can't I update Burp Suite Enterprise

We are currently running Burp Suite Enterprise version V2020.7 and I am trying to update to version V2020.11. The problem is after I download it and then go to Settings->Updates and press the "Upload Zip file" button and select the downloaded zip file. It uploads the file and then throws an error "The upload failed because the zip file was invalid.". I thought this may have been because I was trying to skip previously released updates so I downloaded V2020.10, the update listed as the one right after v2020.7, but it failed for the same reason. How can I get Burp Suite Enterprise to update and get a clean database again like I did the last time? Last time I basically go the new version but it was a new install. Thanks, Glenn

Hi Glenn Are you uploading the "Updater" version or a platform version? The platform installers are for a reinstall or fresh installation and shouldn't be uploaded to the update portal - the Updater package can be uploaded to the update portal. If you'd like to send any screenshots or screen recordings, you can drop us an email at support@portswigger.net If you update your Enterprise installation, then you will keep the data in your database.

OK, so how do I get the latest Updater package. Can I get them through the website or do I have to use the Burp Suite Enterprise app to download them? Thanks, Glenn

Hi Glenn You can find the update packages for the components on our releases page - https://portswigger.net/burp/releases For the Enterprise Server component, you will need to pick the latest Enterprise version, then change the platform selected to "Updater", then download it. For the Scanner component, you will need to pick the latest Burp Suite Professional/Community version (and click on the version title to go to the separate version page - e.g. https://portswigger.net/burp/releases/professional-community-2020-11-3), then change the platform selected to "Agent Update", then download it. You can then upload the zip files to the update portal within Enterprise (<ENTERPRISE_SERVER_URL>/settings/updates > Upload zip file). Are you unable to use the automatic updates, or "Check for updates" button within your Enterprise installation?

OK, one last thing or two actually. :-) How do I update the agent and do I have to update the Burp Suite Scanner. I just ran the Enterprise update it now show shows V2020.11 but the Burp Scanner show V2020.9. Which is what it was before.

Hi, The Burp Agent is the component that performs the scanning within Burp Enterprise, so you just need to update the Agent to keep the scanner version upto date. If you go to the releases page - https://portswigger.net/burp/releases - and select the latest Enterprise version, there should be an "Agent Update" entry in the platform dropdown menu. If you download this zip file then you can update the Agent version in the same manner that you updated Enterprise as a whole (by navigating to the Updates page and click the "Upload zip file" button and then supplying the zip file that you have obtained).
