Ken | Last updated: Apr 28, 2020 04:15PM UTC

Newest version of Burp 2020.4 is throwing JNI errors (Error: A JNI error has occurred, please check your installation and try again). I am running the .jar file. java -version java version "1.8.0_251" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_251-b08) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.251-b08, mixed mode)

Hi Ken, Burp Professional 2020.4 no longer supports the use of Java 8. You will need to upgrade the version of Java that you use on your machine (For your reference, Version 2020.4 now ships with OpenJDK 13.0.2). Please let us know if you require any further information.

You can obtain OpenJDK 13 from here: https://jdk.java.net/archive/

Why is the link to an archive of out-of-date software? And how does one install OpenJDK anyway?

Burp 2020.4 has been tested with OpenJDK, Version 13.0.2 (The installable platform version of Burp also ships with an embedded version of OpenJDK). You are, however, free to use different versions of Java if this is required. Please be aware that the latest version of Burp no longer supports the use of Java 8. In terms of installing OpenJDK, this is really dependent upon the operating system that you are installing on but is generally a case of extracting the provided archive and then creating the relevant environment variables.
