Status "Errors: Unknown"

This is my first time running Burp. Our version is Burp Pro 2.1.04. I have followed the installation tutorials and configure it on windows server 2012 R2 with firefox. Firefox is successfully using burp as the proxy. During our first scan, the crawl phase finishes with 6000+ requests and 67 locations scanned. The Audit phase then pauses with too many consecutive errors. I can resume the scan to completion but in my results, the Audit Items all have the status "Errors: unknown" Like I said, I'm new to this... where do I start troubleshooting?

Hi Michael, That error indicates that Burp was unable to get a response from the server for 10 consecutive requests (10 consecutive errors is the default setting). At this point it considers the scan a failure. Did you check that the website was still accessible during the scan? It could be that the application had issues with the amount of traffic being sent to it from the scanner. If this is the case then you can change the settings within the Resource Pool to try and prevent this from happening: https://portswigger.net/burp/documentation/desktop/dashboard/task-execution-settings You can also change the number of errors that Burp can encounter before pausing to see if this has an effect, as detailed in the following link: https://portswigger.net/blog/handling-application-errors-during-scans In addition, you could also install the Flow BApp extension from the BApp Store. If you configure the Include incomplete requests option then this may also help troubleshooting the issues that you are seeing.
