Standard and custom Extension Profiles

Falk | Last updated: Aug 30, 2022 06:58AM UTC

As many testers have collected a ton of extensions over time burp will start up very slow or even crash. To better maintain which extension should be loaded on startup and in different projects I wish to have extension profiles. Let's say there is a standard extension profile containing extensions that will be loaded on every startup. And there are user defined extension profiles that can be activated manually to load certain configurable extensions. For example the application in the project makes use of OAuth2, the profile shall load JWT, OAuth2 and authorization checking extensions. Multiple extension profile should be supported to be active simultaneously. Thanks for considering.

Thank you for the feedback! The loaded status of extensions is stored as part of your user preferences. If you create a user options configuration file to load into Burp for each different profile, you could achieve a similar effect. You can save your user options configuration by launching Burp, then going to "Burp > User options > Save user options".
