SmartCard Client SSL Certificate

S. | Last updated: Aug 05, 2019 12:55PM UTC

Hi, we have an internal setup where we use SmartCards for Authentication. In Burp 1.7 this worked like a charm but somewhere after the 2.0 upgrade something broke. At the last step (where you enter your PIN code) the certificate does not show up. At the moment I am having this issue on v2.1.02 while 1.7.37 still works. I am on Windows 10 1803. Can you look into that?

We have a ticket in our development backlog to add smart card support for Java 9 upwards. Unfortunately, we can't provide an ETA.

Smart cards are now supported from Java 9 upwards. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Liam, I am running into the same behavior (no certificates being shown in the UI even with the PIN inputted) on a Windows 10 box with Java 8. Does this only work with Java 9? Burp Pro 2.1.04 Java 8, update 181 Windows 10 x64

Hi Aaron, It's worth updating to the latest version of Java 8 (231) to eliminate any potential issues on that side. Would you be able to send a screen recording to support@portswigger.net of you replicating your issue?

Mike, updating to the latest version of Java did not resolve the behavior. I started a support case with additional details and diagnostics attached.

Hi Stefano, We believe that we have fixed this with the later versions of Java. Burp 2020.1 has been tested on OpenJDK 12.0.2 (the installed version comes packaged with this) can you update and see if this behavior still persists?
