Side-by-side View

Nicolas | Last updated: Oct 26, 2018 11:03AM UTC

Hi! Currently, displaying a request+response pair side-by-side is only possible in Repeater ("Repeater -> View -> Left/right split" from the menu bar) or via extensions like Flow or Logger++. I use this layout a lot and I'd like to have it in other areas of Burp Suite, like Target / Site Map, Proxy / History, Intruder results, ...

+1 Having side-by-side panes in history is handy for quick manual "intruder"-like checks and taking docing screenshots.

+1 This is an essential feature

This would be really helpful. I find myself using Flow just because the proxy history requires less clicking.

Just adding support to this request. I'd love to see a split view everywhere, but especially on the history, though please offer top/bottom and left/right.

The most important change to make here IMO, is an option that "displays server response directly in the Intercept menu". So when you Forward requests, you don't have to click HTTP History to see the server response.

+1 - weirdly obvious and useful feature once you get used to using it in apps like ZAP

We've linked your requests to the feature request. If you want to see the responses in the Intercept tab you can either use the Action button to then choose to Intercept the Response if it's just for one request or you can change the settings under Proxy -> Options -> Intercept Server Responses. You can see the menu options in this video 'How to intercept HTTP requests and responses using Burp Suite' on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouDe5sJ_uC8&list=PLoX0sUafNGbH9bmbIANk3D50FNUmuJIF3

Please add my +1 to this feature. For me the most important improvement would be to have the same split view of Request and Response in Intruder than in other tools such as the Proxy and Repeater. I've been hoping for the last four years to have it implemented, thinking at the beginning that it was simply an unintended omission from the dev team, but it seems like the adjustment never made its way into a forthcoming release since then. I can hardly find a reasonable cause why it was left out of this key tool (maybe a technical reason we don't know about), especially since the Intruder got beefed up a bit in the last couple years with much more complex features. This enhancement would be very welcome to help create better screenshots that explain themselves more easily to the target audience. :)
