No response from remote server

Anthony | Last updated: Jun 16, 2022 12:43PM UTC

Hello PortSwigger i have a common problem with this product, and it's the same for the past few days "No response from remote server" I did as much research as possible i imported and installed the certificate and so on and nothing works. I am using the professional edition, and it's just wasting more time in figuring out what is the problem. My internet connection is solid, and my other tools work fine it's just this one i cant scan anything let alone using the proxy to manually test anything. This is getting annoying and i don't want to waste any more time figuring this out for once i would want a tool that worked without annoying issues like this. I just want to work and find bugs that is all and not continually fighting this process this is getting old.

Hi Anthony, Just to clarify, are you seeing this particular issue with all sites or just certain ones? If it is only happening for for certain sites are any of them public facing and are you able to share the details with us? In addition to the above and so that we understand the situation better - it sounds like you are experiencing this issue when performing different actions with Burp (attempted scans, proxying etc) is that the case?

Same problem here.

Hi Rui, I have already responded to your other forum post regarding this issue but, for completeness I shall repeat my response here as well. Are you experiencing this issue for all sites that you try and proxy via Burp or just certain ones? Can you access these sites when you are not proxying via Burp? Finally, is there anything particularly unusual about the networking setup in your environment i.e. is there a corporate proxy in place? Are you using a VPN etc?

Hey, i encountered same issue until i turned off "Drop all out-of-scope requests". this can be seen in ; Settings -> Scope -> Out of scope request handling Kindly also confirm if you can reach the localhost "127.0.0.1"

I am also encountering the same problem with Burpsuite Pro. This is kind of annoying considering this is the Pro version. I do not use any VPN or whatsoever, and when i turned off my proxy to Burp, it works really well. It's just that, when using proxy, the remote server doesn't respond. This happens to me when doing some lab in Burp, but also happens during engagement. However, burp works well with some sites. Hoping to get this resolve. https://0afc00d803a7269082a99de600930066.web-security-academy.net/ Burp Suite Professional Error Timeout in communication with remote server

Hi Giancarlo, Just to clarify, is this happening consistently with the same labs and the same sites or is it sporadic? Which browsers are you using when you experience this behaviour?
