Make Burp a distributed system

Davy | Last updated: Mar 21, 2016 02:20PM UTC

Hello, Last week I was testing a huge application with tens of thousands pages and my work was time throttled by my testing workstation. I guess it would be a huge amount of work but it could be very useful to be able to scan big target(s) using many computers in parallel to have the benefit of their cpu time, memory and network bandwidth. Of course you can do it today by manually launching a session of burp on each computer. Then to have the global results of all nodes you have to save the state of each one and restore it in a "central" session with enough memory. But having a single burp session managing many burp headless agents could be very handy ! Davy

Thanks for this request. We do plan to support this use case in our long term roadmap. We can't currently estimate an ETA for this feature, but it is likely to be at least two years away.

Thanks for your message. Could you tell us a bit more about the situation where you are looking to use this? Are you looking to automate scans across multiple sites and launch those scans from a central location (with the scan engines distributed across different servers)?
