Lost communication with BurpSuite

Sanket | Last updated: May 12, 2020 12:00PM UTC

We are facing an issue "Lost communication with BurpSuite" while scanning after couple of hours. (Persistent issue) Our setup is like, The Burp tooling is hosted in 1 azure VM and application is hosted on another azure VM.(There is only internal communication between these VMs and NO public routing) This issue does not occur when The same burp VM points to our On-premise VM having public url.

Hi, Please send us the log files located at C:\ProgramData\BurpSuiteEnterpriseEdition on Windows or /var/log/BurpSuiteEnterpriseEdition on Mac/Linux. support@portswigger.net Can you please also include these additional details? - Whether the issue occurs with every application/URL you scan - How often the issue occurs - How many agents you have installed and how these are distributed (i.e. are they distributed evenly across the VMs? All on the same VM?)

I have mailed you the log files and have tried to answer all the questions.

I also ran into this (this is my trial period). It looks like the JVM is running out of memory. Is there a config to increase this?

The issue that was causing this was addressed in 2020.4.3. Which version of Enterprise are you using? There is a .vmoptions file for the agent in the installation directory but you should not need to adjust this.

Thanks Chris. Can you please send us further information, screenshots, and logs to support@portswigger.net? The logs can be found at /var/log/BurpSuiteEnterpriseEdition on Mac/Linux or C:\ProgramData\BurpSuiteEnterpriseEdition on Windows. I would also suggest double-checking that you are meeting the minimum system requirements listed here: - https://portswigger.net/burp/documentation/enterprise/technical-infrastructure/technical-requirements/machine-specifications

Just to be clear, you want the agent logs right?
