Korean characters not displayed correctly in the Proxy response tab

Chris | Last updated: Nov 28, 2017 09:38AM UTC

Dear Burp Proxy support team, I tried to execute burp by using -Dencodingfile=EUR-KR options. However, in my response tab, Korean characters are only displayed as []. Do you have any suggestion on how to solve this problem? Thanks. Best regards, Chris

Hi Chris, Thanks for your message. The first thing to check is character encoding. Look in User options > Display > Character Sets. This default to is automatically pick up character sets from message headers, but you may need to override this. The next thing is to try a different font. If the font doesn't have a glyph for a character, it will display as a box. I suspect the default Courier font doesn't support Korean characters. However, you should be able to pick a font that does in User options > Display > HTTP Message Display. I'm not familiar with -Dencodingfile=EUR-KR - what is that intended to do? Please let us know how you get on. We don't have any Korean people here, so your feedback is really helpful.

I had simply to change the font to "Malgun Gothic" and it worked! Thanks.
