Intercept requests

Deeb | Last updated: Sep 25, 2022 09:57AM UTC

Hi, I'm having trouble setting up BurpSuite. When I activate the proxy in Firefox and try to load a page it says that the proxy won't allow it, okay; but when I do so while having the software open it says that a software is preventing the access to the website, which prevents the page to load. Isn't it supposed to load indefinitely, show me the request in BurpSuite and wait for me to forward it? When I click "open browser" in the intercept tab by default it opens Chrome and it works there, so I'm thinking maybe Firefox isn't set up properly. I haven't downloaded the certificate because it would allow me to browse pages immediately, but what I want is to be sent the requests through the software and forward/discard/alter them manually. Thanks!

Have you tried using Burp's browser? - https://portswigger.net/burp/documentation/desktop/functions/burps-browser Do you encounter the same issue?

That's what I was talking about when I said Chrome, I got mislead by the logo it actually is Burp's browser. So no I don't have the same issue, it doesn't work in Firefox but it works there.

Is the problematic application public-facing, if so, could you share it with us? Could you provide a screenshot of the error message?

Here are some screenshots, I don't know how to post images here so here are imgur links : error when Burp is not running : https://imgur.com/usuSFG4 error when Burp is running : https://imgur.com/dBz0IYT

It looks like Firefox is not configured correctly and/or something is blocking its use on your machine or network. Can you not use Burp's browser for your work?

I can, that's what I will do. It was just bothering me that it didn't work on Firefox since this is the browser I use the most and I didn't understand what was wrong. But yes, I will use Burp's browser :) thanks
