Improvement for Burp Organizer

Dwiki | Last updated: Dec 19, 2023 10:46AM UTC

Thanks for Portswigger team by introducing this feature, I have suggestion to improve this feature. Problem: As of now my notes are scattered across repeater, proxy request and organizer. It's hard for my to know what is my note sort by the timeframe when I am doing pentest. I know I can filter it through burp proxy, but I expect more. Expectation: I expect that Burp Organizer can automatically add all my burp request "with" any note within this tab. So I can easily revisit my notes and validate which one need more attention and which one I can ignore. So I can focus on Organizer as my source of truth to find my all pentest notes activity during pentest. Thanks hopefully you can consider this input as organizer plan for improvement. Best,

Hi Thank you for your feedback. To clarify, are you saying that when you add a note to a request and send that request to the Organizer, the notes should be sent with it? If this is the case, then Burp does provide this already. Or do you mean that when you add a note to a request, the request should automatically be populated in the Organizer without having to use the hotkey or click 'Send to Organizer'? Your clarification will be appreciated.

Hi @dominyque, thanks for your response! It's the latter one. > do you mean that when you add a note to a request, the request should automatically be populated in the Organizer without having to use the hotkey or click 'Send to Organizer'? Correct! Let me put it more details. 1. As User, when I put notes in my BurpSuite Proxy -> HTTP History, the request should be automatically populated in the Organizer without having to use the hotkey or click 'Send to Organizer'. -> If I update the notes in organizer, it will automatically update the notes from it source too. In this case notes in my BurpSuite Proxy -> HTTP History will be updated. 2. As User, when I put notes in my BurpSuite Repeater request, the request should be automatically populated in the Organizer without having to use the hotkey or click 'Send to Organizer'. Each request have it's origin, for example for this case the request come fromthe BurpSuite Repeater (optional) -> If I update the notes in organizer, it will automatically update the notes from it source too. In this case notes in my BurpSuite Repeater request will be updated. So the source of truth will be the Organizer tab. If this feature is not convenience for some people. can make it optional but I really need this improvement for Organizer. Hopefully the team can consider this feedback. Thank you!

Hi Thank you for clarifying. In the spirit of being open and honest with our customers, we do not think this feature request will be implemented because this may not be the desired workflow for many other users. Of course, we will monitor this forum post for traction and support left by other customers. If there is a consensus that requests with notes should be added to the Organiser automatically, we will reconsider adding this feature request to the development backlog. We truly appreciate your feedback; we are always looking to improve. Should you have any more feature requests or observations, please do let us know :)
