i need help with burp suite's in browser

I'm doing the Portswigger web academy and am trying to use burp suite's in browser. when i open the browser it's just a basic page. if i try to access the web academy labs in the browser, it asks me to log in to portswigger first but it's not secure. I first used an external browser and was able to capture, alter in repeater, and send in repeater with the response; however, I couldn't get it to alter the external browser because I don't know how to send altered requests from repeater to an external browser. Any help is appreciated.
