I am having problems get a website to be scanned

Glenn | Last updated: Jul 07, 2021 10:18AM UTC

When I go to the website it comes up, although a little slow, but it does come up. When I try to scan it with Burp Suite Enterprise Version 2021.3.1-6427. I get an error "Could not connect to any seed URLs.". I know the Uri I am trying to connect is fine since I copy it from the Burp Suite site definition and then past it in my browser and the site does come up. How can I see why Burp Suite won't connect to it? Thanks, Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Are you using the agent for scanning on the same machine as the Burp Enterprise Server? Or different machines for server/agent?

Do you have a proxy in place in your environment in order for the scanning agent machine to access the internet?

If you click the top right "gear" icon > Scan configurations > New configuration, at the bottom of this page there is a Connections > Upstream Proxy Servers section where you can configure the details of your proxy server for the scan if you have one.

If this is the case, you then need to save this configuration and then add it to your scans so that the requests being made are sent out via the configured proxy server rather than directly.

You may have also seen Proxy settings in the Network page. The settings here are purely for the server interaction with our licensing and update mechanism. If you need to use a proxy server for scanning this must be created at the scan configuration level mentioned above.

If you are still having issues are you able to send us an email at support@portswigger.net and include a copy of all of your log files from Burp Enterprise and some details of the site(s) that you are trying to scan please?
