How to get the value of Edited/Intercepted Request flag

Hi, In Burp Proxy HTTP History, there is the [Edited] flag to indicate that the request was modified. The value of the Edited request can also be checked through the request pane by interchanging the [Original request] and [Edited request] pull down. I am trying to create a burp suite extension to get the edited (or original) request of the selected line without choosing the request pane pull down. Is there a way to do it? I cannot seem to find any edited or intercepted flag in the Montoya API.
