Exclude websocket intercept

Venkata | Last updated: Nov 20, 2018 07:20AM UTC

How do I exclude websocket incoming and outgoing while intercept for for specific requests of defined target scope? It's annoying to see several websocket requests while intercepting for specific requests.

At the moment, the only control you have is to intercept client-to-server messages. or server-to-client messages. Unfortunately, there isn't any more granularity than this. We do intend to improve WebSockets support in future, although this will be after Burp 2 has come out of beta.

Hi Paul, thanks for your quick reply, is there any way to join the testing program as a paid user? It would be nice to have look on how it's going and submit you any bugs.

You may try URL match type it like "/socket.io/"

Hi Dennis, Are you looking to exclude all websockets from being intercepted by Burp?

Burp User | Last updated: Dec 17, 2019 01:13PM UTC

Any update on this? This ticket is a year old but I still can't seem to exclude websockets from intercept.

Yes I am, I already tried excluding the domain and IP but I keep intercepting websockets

Hi Dennis Have you already tried unchecking the "Intercept WebSockets Messages" checkboxes in "Proxy > Options"?
