Exam question

Read the post here https://portswigger.net/web-security/certification/how-it-works#what-the-exam-involves Wanted to ask if during the exam, is it allowed to take written notes and refer to them? Some proctoring software violates if you move your hands off the keyboard and I have a habit of writing stuff while testing. If it is banned would typing digital notes be allowed? Thanks

Hi John, The exam is open book so you can both write notes yourself and also use any books, notes or web resources that you may find useful during the exam itself. The only real restriction is that you do not communicate or attempt to communicate with anyone during the exam. It is worth noting that the proctoring aspect of the exam does not continue for the entirety of the exam time but is just a fairly simple ID check/security question verification at the start (we use these checks so that we can verify the identity of the person actually sitting the exam to prevent any attempts at fraud). Hope this clarifies the situation but please let us know if you have any further questions.
