Can not adjust new 'INSPECTOR' feature

Janak | Last updated: Mar 09, 2021 02:52AM UTC

Version: Burp Suite Community Edition v2021.2.1 The new "INSPECTOR" feature is extremely handy but I'm having difficulty understanding it and how to adjust it because I can not see my Request and Response in tabs in REPEATER! So I can not edit my Request before sending it again. Example: 1. When I intercept a request or when I send any previous request(ctrl+R) from Proxy > HTTP History tab to REPEATER tab 2. But When I go to REPEATER, there is no Request or Response only INSPECTOR. You know When you send a request to edit in REPEATER half of the burp suite window gets split into two parts "Request | Response" but now there is only "INSPECTOR". I know there is also "..." verticle dots to adjust the INSPECTOR tab but it is fixed on the left side of the BurpSuite window. I can not move it. Also Can you please implement a feature to turn off INSPECTOR? I'm not sure if it is intended like this. I wish I could send you a screenshot of it, so I have emailed you as well. Please check that to have a better understanding of the problem I'm facing.

We've received your email with the screenshot. Does this issue persist when restarting Burp? If you perform a reinstall of Burp, does the issue persist?

Yes, even after restarting burp the issue persists. I have tried reinstalling BurpSuite from the apt package manager, downloading and installing from the official site. None of it worked. I am using Parrot OS if that helps and it is updated. * Linux parrot 5.10.0-3parrot1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.13-3parrot1 (2021-02-25) x86_64 GNU/Linux

I've tried replicating your issue on Parrot OS but wasn't successful. Does the issue persist if you remove all extensions and restart Burp? Could you also send me your diagnostics information? You can find this by going to "Help > Diagnostics" within Burp.

It worked, removing all extensions and reinstalling BurpSuite worked. Now I can send requests to REPEATER and I get split windows for requests, response and inspector. Thank you, Hannah. Good job! Have a great day! <3

Glad to hear it! You could try reenabling extensions slowly to see which one triggered the issue. If you do find the one that has caused this issue, we would love to know. If there's anything else we can help with then please let us know.

This problem is still happening to me I removed extensions and reinstall Burp, but without change. The first REPEATER tab works well, and Request /Response window appear well. but from the second tab in REPEATER, the problem appears: - No Request/Response tab appears. - only Inspector tab, exactly as previously described by Janak

Can you see if you have the same issue in the latest version of Burp? For our Stable channel, this is v2021.5.3. For our Early Adopter channel, this is v2021.6.1. Our releases can be found here: https://portswigger.net/burp/releases#professional

I installed the last version v2021.6.1, but unfortunately, it has the same issue. I need to disable this feature "INSPECTOR" ??

Are you able to send us some screenshots of the issue to support@portswigger.net? There should be an "X" button on the right-hand side of the Inspector panel to collapse it. You cannot completely disable Inspector.

I have sent a mail to support@portswigger.net with screenshots.
