Burp Suite Professional trial messed Kali

Ivan | Last updated: Nov 08, 2020 10:33AM UTC

The BS Pro was downloaded and installed by the wizard. After that, the first time it was opened, it asked for a license key file. Given the file from Downloads in Kali, both automatic and manual activation was attempted but all hanged up the installing BS Pro. I killed the window and restarted Kali. Surprisingly the Kali login screen repeated again and again thought the password is correct. When a wrong password is entered, I'll see a wrong password message. Even worse, when I rollback a snapshot, the login asks me the password equal to my username. After 3-4 attempts on license activation, BS pro returns an Activation Failed and says No more activation allowed for this license. The Virtual Box is 6.1.12 for macOS version 10.15.7. Don't ask me to upgrade VB to 6.1.14 which aborts all Linux VMs.

I have added an additional activation for you. Can you please download a fresh copy and attempt the installation again? Are you using the platform installer? (.sh script) or the standalone JAR? Does your issue persist on a new user account on the same VM?

Feedback: Yes, I was using the platform installer. Thanks a lot for re-issue the license promptly. The problem solved. I switched Kali to terminal mode (control+option+F6 on macOS host) and found that the Kali VM was 100% full and did not expand automatically possibly prohibited by the snapshots. I deleted all snapshots, and detached the storage and increased storage size and re-attached the storage. Kali was back to normal. I installed BS pro again, and was able to activate the license instantly.
