Burp Suite Professional freezes on launch

I am getting Safe Mode prompt saying "Burp did not start properly last time. Do you want to start it without loading extension?" and on choosing either Yes or No fails to load burp suite. This happens for both saved and temporary projects causing it to freeze on "Starting project, please wait..." message. This issue started occurring when I had to close burp suite abruptly via Task Manager as it had become unresponsive due to lack of storage space while performing active scanning. Since then I have not been able to run it back again due to aforementioned issue. I have another licensed user on the same machine who remains unaffected by this issue. I have tried reinstalling the burp suite with latest stable version, also tried running burp using both via jar and installed binary but no help. Current version: 2023.3.5

Hi Could you try launching the JAR with the ```--diagnostics```flag enabled? Do you receive any error messages on the command line? Could you drop us an email at support@portswigger.net with the output from the diagnostics flag?

Running burp suite pro jar (now upgraded to v2023.4.3) with --diagnostics flag does not throw any error messages on the command line, burp's "starting project" window remains stuck as long as I do not close it forcefully.

Hi The diagnostics flag should have output information on your system and Burp installation. Could you drop us an email at support@portswigger.net with the information that was output, please? This will help us understand more about your environment, and if you have performance feedback enabled, we can check to see if any exceptions have been reported for your debug ID.

Hi Sara Are you using the Installer version of Burp Suite, or are you launching the JAR? When you previously used Burp, did you have issues when closing it down, leading to files being left?

I'm using the Installer version on Windows 11 Pro. Now, everytime I open Burp it display temporary files pop-up.

Hi If you choose to delete the temporary files from the pop-up, does Burp continue to launch and open properly, or does it fail to start?

Hello Team, I'm encountering a similar issue. When I start Burp Suite, I select the temporary project and click the "Next" button. After a few seconds, a safe mode popup appears on the screen. Thanks Akash

Hi Akash There should be some options to continue available on the safe mode popup. If you don't see these, do they appear if you resize the screen? If you're still having issues, could you drop us an email at support@portswigger.net with some screenshots?

Hi Could you drop us an email at support@portswigger.net with a screen recording or some screenshots? Is it possible for you to include your diagnostics information? You can retrieve this by going to "Help > Diagnostics" once Burp has launched. Please let us know if you have any difficulties.
