Burp Suite Community Edition won't start

Razored | Last updated: Apr 17, 2020 08:13PM UTC

I've been using Burp Suite on my Ubuntu computer for a couple of months, but for some reason it has stopped working. I don't know why - I was using it, then it crashed, stopped working, and since then I haven't been able to use it. When I try to use Burp, it goes through the two initial screens okay. But when I click on the Start button, that's the end of it - the Burp icon shows on the task bar, but its window won't open. If I left-click on the icon on the task bar, or right-click and select "All Windows", a small gray preview window opens but that's all. I have reinstalled Burp a few times now, trying the latest version 2020.2.1 as well as older versions just to see if they might work. But nothing does. When I install Burp, I get an error message saying: Gtk-Message: 20:49:29.072: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module" If I try to run Burp from the command line, this is the output: t0p@pluto:~/BurpSuiteCommunity$ java -jar burpsuite_community.jar WARNING: An illegal reflective access operation has occurred WARNING: Illegal reflective access by burp.ffs (file:/home/t0p/BurpSuiteCommunity/burpsuite_community.jar) to field javax.swing.JTree.expandedState WARNING: Please consider reporting this to the maintainers of burp.ffs WARNING: Use --illegal-access=warn to enable warnings of further illegal reflective access operations WARNING: All illegal access operations will be denied in a future release My operating system is Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS, my computer is Lenovo G505, with AMD® A6-5200 apu
