burp suite browser unable to download files

Pradeep | Last updated: Oct 28, 2024 01:48PM UTC

Hi, I'm trying to download files with the built-in chromium browser though downloads will either not start or break in between claiming it's completed instead of saying download failed.

Hi Can you tell us a bit more about your setup, please? - Which version of Burp are you using? - Does this happen with all files that you try to download or just when you try to download fils on a specific site? - Are there any additional messages in Burp's Event log? - Do you see the same issue if you use an external browser proxied via Burp?

Hi, Using the latest one released on Oct. 24th, This happens on all sites, Event log shows communication errors <h2>Event detail</h2> <tr><td width=60px>Time:&nbsp;&nbsp;</td><td>09:40:56 29 Oct 2024</td></tr> <tr><td>Type:&nbsp;&nbsp;</td><td>Error</td></tr> <tr><td>Source:&nbsp;&nbsp;</td><td>Proxy</td></tr> <tr><td>Message:&nbsp;&nbsp;</td><td>Communication error: releases.grapheneos.org</td></tr>, Yes I do see the same issue.

Hi Can you please email support@portswigger.net with a copy of the output from Help > Diagnostics for your installation of Burp? Do the messages in the event log appear at the same time as you try to download the files? Is Burp configured to use an upstream proxy?

emailed support@portswigger.net, Not at the same time, there's a bit of a delay, burp is configured to use an upstream proxy though I had it disabled for the sake of debugging, I only need when I go on vpn.
