burp proxy seems extremely slow since updating to macOS high Sierra

Andre | Last updated: Nov 14, 2017 02:37PM UTC

Hi - is there any update coming out to burp professional to fix this? I am having major issues with my proxy speed since updating. Thanks

This could be caused by the App Nap feature. Burp Suite is not App Nap aware, so you would have to turn it off across your entire system to test it out. Launch Terminal, located in the /Applications/Utilities folder. In the Terminal window that opens, enter the following command: defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAppSleepDisabled -bool YES Note: You can triple-click the above line of text to select the entire command. You can then copy/paste the command into the Terminal window. Press Enter or Return, depending on your keyboard. The command will be performed, although no feedback about the command's status will display in the Terminal window. When you disable App Nap system-wide, you're not placing check marks in the Prevent App Nap checkboxes; you're simply turning the feature off system-wide.

I have tried both chrome and firefox browsers and both are extremely slow now through the proxy. Never had any issues before.

Still seems to have issues - when i run the command and start burp it works great then slows down drastically after 2 minutes.

Can you tell us exactly what you are seeing slow down? What tasks are you performing with Burp?

Just browsing websites thru the proxy seems extremely slow since updating my Mac.

We've updated to the latest version of Sierra and can't replicate your issue. Is this happening with all websites? Can you give us some examples of the sites you are proxying?

I am using firefox developer browser as well - basic sites such as espn.com and even google.com were slow yesterday - I will try again today

Are you experiencing the same issue on your systems native Safari browse? Are you connecting to the internet via a corporate proxy?

Burp User | Last updated: Nov 15, 2017 04:41PM UTC

proxy browsing is still extremely slow after 2 minutes - really not sure why - the rest of burp works fine - intruder repeater add ons etc

I have tried chrome firefox and safari and all have the same issue. I am not using any corporate proxy or vpn, just connecting from home network. Thanks
