Bug in inspector selection feature

nel | Last updated: Nov 10, 2020 10:31AM UTC

Hello, I just updated to v2020.11(on windows), and I noticed the selection feature works only if you select one character. If I mark more than one, the selection section disappears. Thanks!

Thanks for reporting this. How are you launching Burp? Do you have any custom scaling settings set up in Windows? If so, what happens if you change the scaling to 100%? Can you provide the steps to replicate this along with diagnostics, please? (Help > Diagnostics)

I am launching Burp using BurpSuitePro.exe on windows 10. I have 2 monitors only one of them has custom scaling but it happens in both of them. I just realize it is happening in the proxy history tab. In the repeater editor, it works just fine. I prefer not to post here the diagnostic information but if you have an Email I can send it to I will do it gladly. Thank you!

That looks like intentional behaviour since the proxy history message editor is not editable by default. You can reach us on support@portswigger.net.

I don't think this is an intentional behavior because when I select only one character, the selection section does appear...

I have just received this feedback from our development team: In a non-editable context i.e. http hstory, site map etc, if there is no encoding in the selected text then the selection widget does not show as it serves no purpose. In the repeater request, which is editable, it will always show in case the user wants to encode something.
