Automatic Backup

When automatically backing up the state of Burp Suite it creates a new file each time it saves the state at whatever time interval you set. Is there a way to overwrite the saved state file each time it saves? We currently run Burp Suite Pro on a Kali Linux VM with very limited hard drive space and saving the state every hour or half hour eats up hard drive space.

We're aware of this problem. We're close to releasing an update to Burp that will let it save its data incrementally in real time to a single file, so you won't need to do automatic backups any more.

Looking forward! ;-)

Has this been implemented?

Yes, we released this with Burp 1.7: http://blog.portswigger.net/2016/04/introducing-burp-projects.html

is there anyway to disable this autobackup feature?

Temporary projects are useful for quick tasks where your work doesn't need to be saved. All data is held in memory, and is lost when Burp exits.
