Application gives 500 internal server only when I use Burp

Alka | Last updated: Oct 24, 2018 11:37PM UTC

Hi , I am using burp for all my applications I am working on and it works totally fine. But for one single domain it returns a 500 internal server when I use burp , if I turn the proxy off then the application loads fine . What am I doing wrong ? Pls help . Appreciate all the help.

Look at this setting: Proxy > Options > Miscellaneous > Set "Connection close" on incoming requests. Try turning it off, which may help with this site. It's also possible the application needs NTLM authentication.

I tried that option , it did not work

Hi Alka, Thanks for following up. You don't need to add the site's certificate in Burp - Burp actually accepts any SSL certificate for regular browsing. Debugging this issue will be quite tricky. You could try another intercepting proxy like Zap or mitmproxy to see if they have an issue. You could also use Wireshark to monitor the raw packets. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

However I noticed that I see the site's certificate mentioned under Project Options-> SSL -> Server SSL Certificates Do I need to add the Site's cert somewhere on burp? Does burp need to accept the site's cert as well?

hi there, i attach to this old thread because i am having the same issue as above. Just a little difference (maybe big!). If i open an already existing project i'm working on (it worked since yesterday) i receive a 500 error. If i open a new temporary project (just to test) it works. thanks for your support
