Apple will not let me open the community version of Burp Suites

“Burp Suite Community Edition Installer” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

I cannot even get started

Hi Dan, This is an issue with the Mac installers not currently being signed and notarized by PortSwigger. On some versions of the MacOS, and also depending upon the configured security settings, Apple cannot verify that the software is from a trusted source. We have a feature request in our development backlog to resolve this issue in future releases. The current workaround for this is to right click on both the .dmg file and the resulting .app file and selecting Open from the context menu. This will give you the same dialog but with an additional Open button allowing you to proceed with the installation.
