How do I get Add Custom Header extension to work

Rahul | Last updated: Apr 23, 2024 04:19AM UTC

I've input the Header name and value but the custom header doesn't show up in requests in Proxy. Are there any alternatives? It would be good if this worked - many programs require it

Hi Rahul, Have you configured either a session handling rule (for static headers) or a macro and session handling rule for dynamic headers? If not, there are some examples on how to do this on the GitHub page for this particular extension: https://github.com/portswigger/add-custom-header

I tried Add Custom Header extension in Session Handling Rules. I tried "set a specific header value" in Session Handling rules. I tried it for all URLs, I tried target only, I tried in scope. I looked into Macro Editor and Configure Macro Item and I can't find a simple way to add anything to the request. What should I do? Can you guide me here? Also, even after doing the above, nothing shows up in Session Handling Tracer.

Hi Rahul, Are you able to email us at support@portswigger.net and include some screenshots of what you have setup and what you are seeing so that we can see this more clearly and attempt to assist you further?

I used this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_xtDg-m2aI "Match and replace rules" worked. Thanks.
